Saddlesdane is not a new business. It has grown over the years into one of the biggest retailers of equestrian equipment in the South East. And it has done so without having any real e-commerce presence, or indeed a much of a website to speak of. You'd think this was unusual, but there are many retailers that struggle to make that transition without the technical ability in-house, particularly when they carry a large inventory.
Saddlesdane is also an equestrian training facility, hosting national level competitions on a regular basis. Together with its 10,000 sq. ft. retail premises, the business is well known locally but has not tapped into the growing e-commerce market and online sales.
Reimagine and redesign the branding so that it is stronger and more appealing.
Centralise inventory management.
Integrate POS in-store sales with online sales.
Create an accounting, inventory, sales, purchasing and order fulfilment ecosystem.
Develop a new e-commerce website.
Saddlesdane as a business has morphed and grown over the years, starting in a small shop and quickly expanding into a purpose build retail space with attached arena. The branding had not progressed dramatically since the early days and we took this quickly in hand.
Initial research led us to highlight that the training facility and equine store had mutual benefit but people were looking for different things from each when visiting the website. Thus two new logos and brand styles were developed in the same family design, for future better separation and customer clarity.
Saddlesdane carries premium equine brands mixed with good quality day-to-day horse supplies, as such the strategy has been to better reflect this breadth and quality online - giving customers a level of comfort and understanding about the business through design, tone of voice and ease of interaction.
Saddlesdane holds significant levels of stock and as a growing business, they needed a flexible e-commerce platform that links in with both accounting, point of sale and ERP systems. For these reasons, we chose Shopware as the platform, as it offers an enterprise level solution that can grow with the business, at relatively low cost and it’s quick to deploy. Shopware is uniquely positioned to deliver cost-effective, enterprise-level scaling, driving strong return on investment.
The launch of the new Saddlesdane e-commerce store is the start of journey for the client. With our input, the business is centralising data, driving efficiencies and working on a longer term strategy for interaction with customers whilst using the data we provide to influence purchasing.
